Evanger’s started way back in 1935 with a man named Fred Evanger. He raised champion Great Danes and wanted better food for them than what was sold in stores. He built his own cannery right at his kennels so he could make fresh, healthy food on the spot. Today, Evanger’s is still owned by a family (the Sher family) and is the only family-owned pet food cannery in the United States. They cook their food in their own kitchen in Markham, Illinois.
